Dave Sheets is a book industry veteran with experience with some of the top publishers and distributors in the Christian Booksellers Association (CBA) and the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA). Shortly after graduating from St. Cloud State University with a degree in Advertising and Public Relations, David joined the Christian Coalition national headquarters in Virginia, buying print, coordinating publishing projects and selling magazine advertising. These ad sales led to his ultimate introduction to the CBA and traditional book publishing.
After the Coalition’s publishing division shut down, David joined Tyndale House Publishers during the heyday of the New Living Translation (NLT) and the Left Behind series (The LBt series has sold more than 65 million copies, one of the most prolific of all time). Initially responsible for the Focus on the Family publishing relationship, David quickly became the go-to guy for numerous sales projects, in-store merchandising training, and the international sales territory. This led to additional opportunity in US territory sales and the challenge of ‘lead salesman’ for a new digital product called iLumina.
After almost five years with Tyndale, David was recruited to Multnomah Publishers where he led the Special Markets sales division, in charge of international sales/rights, ministries, churches, internet and catalog accounts. Multnomah is best known for the dramatic sales of a little book called The Prayer of Jabez, which became the fastest selling book (at the time) in the history of publishing. During this stint, one of David’s British customers began to court him and he was eventually asked to lead their sales team as Sr. Vice President of Sales for a new US ‘start-up’ called STL Distribution, which consisted of five newly acquired companies under the STLD banner.
After only a short time with STLD, David was also asked to lead their marketing team as the Chief Sales and Marketing Officer. In 2008, David was named as one of Christian Retailing Magazine’s ‘Top 40 under 40,’ in which CRM identified 40 individuals under the age of 40 “who are widely considered to be influential figures for the days ahead in the Christian product industry.”
After a short stint at Harvest House Publishers calling on their largest general market booksellers and distributors, David resumed his work with start-up companies. Immersion Digital, the original creator of the iLumina product licensed to Tyndale House Publishers, asked David to join their team to help develop the sales strategy, hire key distributors, and launch a new digital product in the fall of 2009 called Glo. David is currently working with Snowfall Press, a revolutionary digital print solutions company, and other small publishing/author relationships.
David has been married to Christen for almost twenty years and they have four children and three beagles. Recently transplanted back ‘home’ to Minnesota, the Sheets enjoy spending their time with extended family and various sports and outdoor activities.

Hi Dave,
I’ve heard very positive things about you from members of MIPA, and am hoping you’ll be interested in helping me through the self-publishing process with my second book. I write mysteries set in St. Paul. My first book was published by North Star Press, and I decided to look elsewhere for my second novel. The manuscript is professionally edited and ready to go. Hope you’re willing to take a look. Regards, S.L. Smith
SL, Thanks for contacting me. Happy to try to help. Give me a number to call and lets set up a consultation time. Dave Sheets
